Doing My Part to Keep Santa Cruz Gymnastics Safe

I want to do my part to help Santa Cruz Gymnastics keep my child(ren), their coaches/staff, other families, and everyone else at the gym as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have read, understood, and agree to the following policies and procedures.

Note: Every family must have this agreement on file before a gymnast can participate in activities.

I understand and agree that:

  • All participants/members/staff will have their temperature checked with a touchless thermometer prior to entering the facility and anyone with a temperature above 100.4 will not be permitted to enter.

  • Initially, no parents will be allowed in the lobby or any viewing area as there is no space to accommodate additional people for social distancing. We are opening the large bay doors for viewing.

  • Adults entering the facilities must wear a mask. All gymnasts must be dressed and ready to start training before entering the gym.

  • Participants should bring a back pack with a healthy snack, water bottle, room for shoes and clothing, and a mask.  All gymnasts must arrive dressed and ready to go with hair up in a ponytail.

  • Coaches will be limiting hand-spotting as much as possible, but may find it necessary on occasion to hand spot for safety.

  • I will support and educate my child(ren) on SCGC’s social distancing and safety guidelines and understand their participation is reliant on them following these guidelines.

  • My gymnast(s) will have regular opportunities to wash their hands thoroughly between rotations, before leaving home and as needed.

  • I will have my child(ren) wash their hands and feet thoroughly upon arriving back home.

  • I agree to keep my child(ren) home if they or anyone in my family is coughing, has a temperature over 100.4 degrees, or is exhibiting other COVID-19 symptoms. I agree to pick up my child(ren) immediately if they start to exhibit any signs of illness. Any child(ren) showing signs of illness will immediately wear a mask and be put in an isolation area until a parent comes to pick them up.

  • I understand these procedures will change and evolve over time and I will follow any new standards required by the state of California and/or Santa Cruz Gymnastics Center.

  • If a member contracts COVID-19, we will immediately contact close contact members via email.  We will use our software system, attendance and rotational schedule as a tracing mechanism to determine who the infected member came in contact with during gym hours. There will be no refunds for any gym closures due to Covid-19.

I understand the coaches, staff, and everyone at the gym will make a strong effort to maintain social distancing but there will be times when incidental contact and less-than-prescribed physical distancing will occur.  Per CDPH, “recent evidence indicates that in-person instruction can occur safely without minimum physical distancing requirements when other mitigation strategies (e.g., masking) are implemented. Although we are limiting spotting,  I will allow my child to be spotted when spotting is necessary.  I further understand that I am voluntarily allowing my child to participate in programs and activities offered by Santa Cruz Gymnastics Center knowing it is impossible to keep them, myself, or anyone else who enters the gym completely safe from the exposure to the COVID-19 virus.  I accept that risk.
